Installation instructions

Congratulations on your new Hupacha product! On this page you’ll find general instructions for installing lighting and hanging wall art. With each product, you’ll also receive specific instructions that apply to your particular purchase.

Important safety information

Electrical safety

When installing lighting products, you’re working with electricity. Always take the following precautions:

  • Always turn off the power at the fuse box before you start installing
  • Use a voltage tester to confirm that there’s genuinely no current running through the wiring
  • If in doubt: call in a certified electrician

All Hupacha products are intended for indoor use only. Don’t place products in humid rooms such as bathrooms (unless stated otherwise), and keep them away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Installing wall lamps

Installing a wall lamp is well within reach for an experienced DIYer. Follow the steps below:

Preparation

Unpack all parts and check that everything is complete using the included parts list. Gather the tools you’ll need: a screwdriver, drill, spirit level and pencil.

Turning off the power

Switch off the relevant circuit at the fuse box. Use a voltage tester to confirm there’s no current left in the wiring.

Determining mounting points

Hold the mounting bracket against the wall at your desired height. Use a spirit level to make sure the bracket is straight. Mark the drilling points with a pencil.

Fixing the bracket

Drill the holes and insert the supplied wall plugs. Screw the mounting bracket firmly to the wall. Double-check that the bracket is level.

Electrical connection

Connect the wiring according to the colour coding: brown or black to the live (orange) terminal, blue to the neutral (blue) terminal, and, if present, yellow-green (earth) to the earth terminal.

Mounting the lamp

Hang the lamp on the mounting bracket and make sure all wiring is neatly tucked away.

Testing

Switch the power back on at the fuse box and check that the lamp works correctly.

Hanging wall art

To hang wall art, you’ll usually only need a few simple tools:

What you’ll need

  • A drill with a bit suited to your wall type
  • Wall plugs and screws (often included)
  • Spirit level
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure

Steps

  1. Determine the position: Hold the piece against the wall in the spot you have in mind.
  2. Mark the hanging points: Measure the distance between the hanging points on the back and transfer this to the wall. Check with a spirit level.
  3. Drill and plug: Drill the holes, insert the wall plugs and drive in the screws, leaving them protruding about 5mm.
  4. Hang it: Hang the piece on the screws and check that it’s level.

Dimming LED lighting

All Hupacha lamps feature dimmable LED lighting.

Always use an LED-compatible dimmer. These dimmers are designed to correctly handle the low wattage of LED lamps. A dimmer intended for incandescent or halogen bulbs won’t work properly with LED lamps.

Care and cleaning

To enjoy your Hupacha product for years to come:

  • Removing dust: Regularly wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust.
  • No harsh products: Never use abrasive or chemical cleaning agents on the wood.
  • Climate: Place products in a room with a relative humidity between 35% and 60% RH for the best possible lifespan.
  • Direct sunlight: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent discolouration.
  • Cleaning lighting: Always turn off the power before cleaning any lighting products.
