Muyuchakuna

Muyuchakuna. In Quechua, the language of the Andes, it means something like small circles.
The surface flows in soft, organic curves across the elm wood. Curves that evoke something familiar: the undulating line of a mountain range on the horizon, a river winding through a valley, the rounded curve of an animal’s back, or the soft curve of a human body. Everyone sees something different in it. That’s the strength of this piece.
Within those flowing forms, countless round dimples have been carved by hand, one by one. The size of each dimple depends on its height within the piece. The result is a rhythmic pattern that gives the surface’s texture an almost magnetic pull. Muyuchakuna is not just a feast for the eyes, it evokes an almost irresistible urge to touch.

The piece is crafted from a single block of elm wood, with a beautiful natural division: one side light and soft in colour, the other deep and dark. This contrast means every viewing angle reveals a new image.
Versatile in use. Muyuchakuna looks beautiful on a sideboard or coffee table, stands well on a shelf or pedestal, and hangs impressively on the wall. Want to hang it? Just let me know with your order, and I’ll include a metal hanging strip so it can be hung right away.
Finished with hardwax oil, which beautifully brings out the wood’s natural colour while also protecting it.
