Tumbling blocks
Tumbling Blocks is a pattern with a rich history. As far back as Roman times, this design adorned mosaic floors, and during the Renaissance, artists used it to suggest spatial depth. But most people know it through M.C. Escher, who put the pattern on the map in modern times. The secret lies in its simplicity: diamond shaped elements, placed in three directions, each in its own shade. Your eye does the rest. Wherever you look, you see cubes, stacking, tilting, tumbling. Hence the name. This piece is crafted from sustainable European spruce, hand-stained in three carefully matched shades. Each diamond is individually cut, sanded, stained and placed. The result is a piece of wall art that radiates calm and movement at once. It measures 64 cm wide by 42 cm high.
